JOURNEYS END

My darling David’s journey came to an end peacefully and painfree at 04.30 a.m. on Tuesday 12th April 2011.
I send my love and thanks to all who supported him, and our family during his journey which proved to be far too short.

I would like to close his blog with this final post of a poem that I feel David would approve of

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep,
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow,
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain,
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing,
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

Love and best wishes from Geraldine

  4. Lovely words Geraldine....

You have been in my thoughts constantly over the past few days.

I shall miss David - but will remember him with a smile rather than with tears.

He touched many people's hearts with his kindness, compassion and ability to find the humour in the darkest moments.

Hugs to you Geraldine, and of course to the rest of the family too

    Much luv as always xxxx

  6. Geraldine, a fitting final post to David's blog. Although I never met David in person, we had many a discussion, never heated, over photos on the Cafe and will always remember him well.

    My thoughts are with you

  12. What a beautiful poem Geraldine.
Although I never had contact with David I regularly followed his blog and contributions on Cancer Chat.

  13. Thank you for posting the beautiful poem, Geraldine; a lovely postscript to David's blog.

I have been thinking of you and the rest of his family this week with great sadness. David obviously had the gift of making friends wherever and however he went, witness all Cybershot's friends around the world on top of all his 'regular' friends - we are an international group. I know how hard things must be for you and all those who loved him.

    Much love,

    Liz

Over the short time I knew him, he seemed to be a wonderful and fun loving man. One that will be sorely missed in the virtual world as well as reality.
