YAZZ!

''The Only Way Is Up''

Yesterday is history,
tomorrow a mystery
and today is a gift
that's why it's called the present.

My gift on each and every day is the hope you all give me to reach the journey's end as peacefully as possible, knowing that the next steps will be enormously difficult. Together we have made encouraging progress and with the continuing help of the MDT I have every reason to think the days ahead will be just as rewarding in eliminating the dreaded fear of the situation in which I find myself. Unanswered questions cloud the path ahead but positive steps have been taken to ease the passage and I trust no new hurdles spring up before I have a chance to draw breath and more strength.

  3. Hi everyone, an update on David .... the train HAS pulled out from the Royal Surrey County Hospital at Guildford and arrived safely back at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham on Thursday afternoon. Having spent 24 hrs recouperating from the somewhat unscheduled journey (thinking it wouldn't happen for another week yet) David wanted to send his love and appreciation for the depth of love and support you all give him and thereby giving him the strength to endure the next stage of his journey - starting with the physio's for wheelchair techniques on Monday!

    Sending much love and hugs to all from Geraldine and David xxx

  5. Thanks for the update Geraldine.
    I keep checking in just to see how our bonny lad is doing - I know its been difficult for him to post updates.
    I hope he's comfy back at the PTH, and I hope you are managing ok too.
    Tell him that Tony is the wheely expert if he wants some top tips!
    Much love to you both - thinking of you often

  6. One Step at a Time
    by Joseph Morris
    In the morning with the journey all before us on the road,
    It takes courage to begin, that is sure;
    For the first step is the hardest, and we always think the load
    May be greater than we've power to endure.
    When the first mile lies behind us we can say, "Now that is done,
    And the second and the third will soon be past."
    So we trudge on through the noontime, and the setting of the sun
    Finds us coming to our stopping-place at last.

    When a man would climb a mountain he's appalled to see the length
    Of the slope that reaches up into the sky;
    But he starts, and with the climbing he will find he's gained the strength
    To attain the very top, however high.
    For the climbing of a mountain takes but one step at a time--
    Who has courage to do that will reach the goal;
    He will stand upon Life's summit and will know that joy sublime
    Which is his alone who dares to prove his soul.

    With Love and Hugs, strength and peace to you both.

  7. Hi David,
    I was worried about you as I hadn't seen you for some time cybershooting on the Mac site!! but Crystal filled me in and here I am signed in as a friend. I'm glad to see you are still upbeat and I send you all my love from sunny but freezing cold Bournemouth.
    Lots of hugs and kisses

  8. Hi David
    Like Judy, I was worried as we hadn't heard from you but have now found you as witty as ever. At our local hospice they have 'visiting dogs' so you may be allowed visits from Chakka ...he's so large he could be tethered to the wheelchair and trained up to pull it!
    Just trying to send this again...no use at technical stuff but if it works will be in touch again soon.
    Good luck for Monday and much love

  11. A quick note by way of thanks for all the moral support, without which I could hardly envisage the 'leaps and bounds' ahead, and to let you know that objective 1 has been acheived: I am out of bed in 'Geraldine's' recliner and contemplating transfer to a wheelchair in order to accompany Chaka around the hospice gardens which are bathed in sunshine.

    My dongle is performing erractically and never in sync with treatment so life can be somewhat more frustrating keeping in touch!

    Love and light to one and all
